What is a CVS?

A CVS is owned and run by local groups to support, promote and develop local community action. As such it has to be accountable to its local sector. CVS support their members by providing them with services and by acting as a voice for the local voluntary and community sector. CVS may be members of the National Association of Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA) which, in order to fulfil membership criteria, requires them to support the sector through the following areas of work:

  • Services and support
  • Liaison
  • Representation
  • Development work
  • Strategic partnerships

The CLCVS Network comprises the seven CVS from the boroughs of:

  • Islington
  • Camden
  • Kensington and Chelsea
  • Westminster
  • Southwark
  • Lambeth
  • Wandsworth

The main purpose of the Network is to enable the involvement of the voluntary and community sector in Central London in sub-regional work through the CVS Network.
